Valerie Davisson, Founder and President of WNC, LLC, holds direct experience on Wall Street combined with top-level financial positions in corporate and public accounting. This background affords her both an external and internal view of business operations. A skilled strategic thinker and creative problem solver, Ms. Davisson makes decisions based on research and fact. She inspires stakeholders across the decision-making process to follow a solid road map toward profitable growth and higher returns.

Wall Street

Valerie worked in equity research for 13 years. From 2001 through 2011, she was a buy-side equity investor following the Industrials, Basic Materials, and Transportation sectors covering both US and International equity markets. In this role, she evaluated company managements, forecasted earnings and returns, identified business trends, and formed investment conclusions. From 2006 to 2011, she was Vice President and Senior Analyst at Loomis Sayles, a Boston-based asset management firm with $150B assets under management (AUM). She recommended and invested institutional clients’ money in capital goods stocks for value, growth, core, and International funds. Prior to her engagement in Boston, she worked in New York City as a Small Cap Value Analyst/Portfolio Manager at Lazard Asset Management. She began her Wall Street career as a sell-side equity analyst at Bear, Stearns in early 1999 where she covered the aerospace and defense industry.

Valerie’s Wall Street experience brings strategic thinking skills to clients and an emphasis on maximizing returns to shareholders. These years honed her skills in analyzing financial statements and forecasting earnings and cash flows. She assessed capital structure, management team quality, strategic plans and goals, and market conditions, among other critical functions. In all, Valerie holds exceptional research and decision-making skills as a result of her Wall Street experience.  

Corporate

Valerie spent 10 years at two Fortune 100 manufacturing firms. She was the Director of Finance with AlliedSignal (now Honeywell) during the Bossidy-era in the New Jersey corporate offices and at operating divisions in Phoenix and Los Angeles. While with AlliedSignal, she reported to the CFO and managed the corporate Annual Operating Plan. Here, she earned her reputation as an expert at operating cash-flow forecasting and generation. She spent five years with McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) in various operational finance roles and internal audit.

Valerie’s corporate experience allows her to gain a deep understanding of business operations – from the back office to the front, including internal reporting, revenue and profit forecasting. She managed a team of 35 as the Finance Director at Ocean Systems Divisions, adding substantial leadership experience to her roles. 

Public Accounting

During Valerie’s two years on the audit staff at Price Waterhouse, LLC, she prepared and audited GAAP financial statements, including financial footnotes and supplementary disclosures. Her clients were in the manufacturing, financial leasing, hotel, and not-for-profit industries.  Valerie was a CPA licensed in the state of Arizona from 1994 through 2001.

Here, Valerie gained her expertise in understanding GAAP accounting rules, performing financial statement audits, and substantiating answers and estimates.
